Newly commissioned works stand alongside music by Daniel Bernard Roumain, Jlin, Henry Threadgill, Jeff Scott, Fodé Lassana Diabaté, Mazz Swift, and Eddie Venegas, drawing on traditions that span hip hop, jazz, Afro-Cuban music, electronic sound, and contemporary classical composition. Anchored by tributes to Janet Jackson’s iconic album Rhythm Nation, the concert connects cultures, generations, and artistic traditions through the ensemble’s adventurous spirit and virtuosic playing.
